May you root like a dandelion, break ground like a crocus, Hold on like ivy, and climb like a rose. -M. Hespen

Despair

How long, O Lord, will you forget me forever? . . . How longmust I wrestle with my thoughts. . . How long will my enemy triumph over me? Look on me and answer, O Lord my God. . . But I trust in your unfailing love. . . -from Psalm 13
How long, O Lord,
will you forget me forever? . . .
How longmust I wrestle

with my thoughts. . .
How long will my enemy
triumph over me?
Look on me and answer,
O Lord my God. . .
But I trust in your unfailing love. . .

Laugh

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. . . This is to have succeeded. -Ralph Waldo Emerson, att.

If

If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you. . . If you can dream and not make dreams your master. . . If you can make one heap of all your winnings. . . If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue. . . -From 'If' by Rudyard Kipling

Chickenisms

Don't get your feathers ruffled. Just give me a peck on the cheek. He's a henpecked husband. She's low on the pecking order. Don't lay an egg! It just costs chicken feed. She ruled the roost. He flew the coop. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Which came first--the chicken or the egg? She's no spring chicken! She's such a mother hen. Don't count your chickens before they hatch. She's on the nest. Can you read my chicken scatch? It's as scarce as hens' teeth. Wanna play chicken? What are ya, chicken? They're all cooped up. Let 'em come home to roost. A bird in the yeard is worth two from the store!
